THE National Australia Bank has thrown the baby out with the bathwater, pulling the plug on the Citylights artspace altogether after last week’s controversy surrounding work by artist Marc de Jong.
The decision means the end of the three-year City Place artspace, which showed new work by young and emerging artists and was funded to the tune of $10,000 by Melbourne City Council.
Readers might remember the NAB was rather cranky about De Jong's work last week, which featured credit card images with the words changed to read American Excess, Bankrupt, Debt Club International and Vice.
