Ugly Faux

Tuesday, November 25, 2003 - Tuesday, May 25, 2004

'You look up and think of Britney, you recall the edge of Jennifer's panty line, you hear the music from inside the club, you hope your nose will stop bleeding from all that you've snorted and you realise that you are the ugliest faux of all, as something so warm, can be so cold, running down the inside of your thigh.' BF

Ben Frost is currently performing and deejaying in Tokyo under the monnicker of 'Untitled Bleeding Man' - a series of in situ and spoken word performances involving animal blood, TV soundtracks and coloured balloons.

David Campbell is currently doing his Masters in Art History on the wallpaper designs in Mongolian yurts. What few people realize the drastic effect that 16th century yurt design had on the current stencil art of today. Of course, back then they used paint by mixing different coloured muds with dropping from their lifestock, but the influence is definitely there.

'Whenever I have talked to anyone about this show, some sort of weird magazine-based dialogue takes place. I talk about the work using terms like wallpaper or surface, and people think Im talking about the magazines (Ive yet to tell anyone that the work is large, but Im sure the mistake is going to happen sooner or later). I think that what I have been trying to say is that soon, when every single man, woman and child in Australia is either a graphic designer or a DJ, all art will be will be like wallpaper, just nastier.' DC

Campbell is planning to release a new single soon, entitled Nope. And he thinks its funny that Ben mentioned collapsed septums, because he shares the same name as the illegitimate son of Jimmy Barnes. He just thought he should mention that. He doesn’t have a website because he’s Amish, and shuns electricity.

As for the art -
If it needs names, Ben’s stuff (the top bits)

J lo is called 'love comes in spurts', and britney is called 'i know it hurts.

David’s work (the bottom bits) doesn’t have names, but he’s thinking of naming them after his grandparents.
